natsuI'm cutting this thing even though I'm sure no one is reading.
Geez, episode 8 is yet the most boring episode of Kampfer. I keep waiting for something or someone to interrupt the lackluster date. Too much exposition and not enough action. And no, I don't think Shizuku is so special. True, she doesn't (really) get in the way of other girls' pursuits of Natsuru, but she doesn't really try (hard enough) to understand him either.* Just because Shizuku is not "wacky" (which I suppose equated to being mature?) and has some semblance of common sense doesn't make her a good choice for Natsuru.** (In fact, if this plays out like most harem series, I think Natsuru would end up with no one, which would just serve him right.) And perhaps it's difficult for me to understand, but I can't relate to any of the girls (nor see much appeal to them other than them being visually pleasing to the eyes).
*Yeah, there is also that whole other rant about how Natsuru is kind of too dense (I want to use stupid...but that reminds me too much of romance novel heroines) to live or something. I actually agree, in fact thought it up independently (I mean, before I read about it anywhere else), but so what? If I ever do have a serious problem with him (or in fact, with any of the main characters), I would have left the show already. (And I wish people would just do that (and without the dramatic flaunt this-stuff-is-so-stupid-me-no-longer-watching either) instead of wishing unpleasant consequences on him and/or on the characters they dislike/hate.) *Big sighs* I think maybe it's best for me to stay out of fandom and only write about the series in my own space.
**Just a note, Shizuku. Ordering around a guy you're romantically interested in does not make for a good/healthy relationship. I'm opposed to it no matter how thick headed the guy in question seem to be. In fact, I would still feel the same way even if the genders were reversed--which isn't even entirely impossible for this show...
It's sad that by the four minute mark I hope Natsuru would shut his mouth for the remainder of this episode, if all he is going to say are going to make things worse. It kind of reminds me why I normally don't care for harem anime...and yet I still watch this.*** (Just for the character design, the character design--and the fact that I can hear their voices. Any hope I have of satisfying anime conclusion (as well as the rest of the episodes) kind of vanishes already.)
***Which leads me to wonder if anime does in fact suffer from adaptation decay. Because the manga doesn't frustrate me all this much. But then again, as far as story goes, the manga is still so very far behind...
Next episode looks fun (something I haven't said in a while). One thing these next episodes trailers do right, they accurately tell me how much I'll enjoy the episode beforehand. I was almost sure when I saw episode 8 preview that it would be a yawn induced fest. (And I was being fair. Both Shizuku and Natsuru were to blame. No one was free of fault here. And since they carried most of the episode, it made things worse.) Really, I'm not too happy that I was right.
